“You are what you eat” could not be more true as diet and nutrition provide the fuel that our body utilizes to function and maintain health every single day.

Improper diet and nutrition deprives us of the fuels necessary to maintain health.

Eventually, this leads to decreased function and performance of the body due to cellular degeneration and disease if continued for an extended period of time.

The body is similar to an automobile in that it must have proper fuel (nutrition) to run efficiently and not have breakdowns.  Imagine how your vehicle would function if you used fuels other than gasoline and oil.

Many symptoms that you experience such as:

Pain, Fatigue, Depression, Indigestion, and PMS; may be related to poor diet and nutritional deficiencies.

Poor nutrition will also decrease the body’s ability to heal, ultimately decreasing your ability to recover and prolonging your recovery time.  Therefore, nutrition must be considered as an integral part of your current treatment along with the other therapies offered at Complete Chiropractic to have the greatest impact on your overall health and to promote optimal wellness in an effort to improve your overall quality of life.

We must first consider your current diet.

There are many problems with most people’s current diets including:

Excessive Sugar intake, Improper Fat intake, and a dependency upon Fast and Convenient foods; which will have a negative impact on our health.

Many foods that we consume today have been processed, genetically engineered, or grown on depleted soils, which have greatly Reduced the Availability of Proper Nutrients needed to meet the body’s requirement to function and maintain health.  Therefore, careful dietary analysis of foods you consume on a regular basis is extremely important to determine any corrections/modifications necessary to appropriately balance your diet to positively affect your health.

In addition to a balanced diet, you may also require supplementation through high-quality, supplements offered here at Complete Chiropractic.  These supplements are necessary to help support a balanced diet and assure that you are getting all of the appropriate nutrients to improve the body’s ability to function and heal.  As a result, they will help to prevent any unnecessary degeneration or disease.  We will determine a supplement program specific to you and your nutritional needs to be used in conjunction with a balanced diet.

We look forward to working with you and helping you to accomplish your health goals through appropriate nutrition.  The rewards are endless and well worth the time and money spent…after all what is life without health?

Why Do You Need Supplements?

We know that machine parts breakdown in time because of wear and tear, neglect, and abuse.  However, unlike a machine, the human body can renew and regenerate itself, if it has the necessary nutrients to do so.  The body has the ability to produce new cells and heal itself.  However, without the proper building material, our body can wear out and breakdown prematurely which can lead to many disease processes.

Even though we are living in one of the most affluent countries in the world, malnourishment is the number one cause of illness and death in the United States (according to the World Health Organization).  However, one hundred years ago we were a much healthier nation. There was no reported incidence of heart disease until the early 1900’s and only 3% of Americans died from cancer.  Cancer, heart disease, and diabetes are the top three killers today and are consequences of nutritional deficiencies and chemical toxicity.

The incidences of these diseases were not prevalent in the past because our ancestors’ diet was not deficient in nutrients.  They grew food in fertile soil, did not eat refined foods, or use pesticides.

Currently, our foods are devitalized and demineralized as a result of: farming methods that do not rejuvenate the soil, chemical farming techniques that contaminate soil, over processing and devitalization of food, chemical preservatives, pollution, and etc.  These are many of the elements that can cause people to become vitamin and mineral deficient.  Consequently, we are probably not getting proper nutrition from the food we are eating and should seriously consider nutritional supplements.

Today, nearly 70% of Americans take some type of vitamin or food supplements.  But are they taking the right kind of nutritional supplements?  Are they good quality supplements?  Good quality vitamins may be more expensive but they are in a form your body can actually useMany cheaper supplements use vitamins that your body cannot easily absorb.  Many times they contain a lot of artificial ingrediaents and fillers.  Davinci vitamins are vegetarian and free of corn, egg, gluten, milk, sodium, wheat, yeast, added sugars, starches, synthetic dyes, artificial flavors or preservatives.  Complete Chiropractic offers a variety of Davinci vitamins to help supplement your balanced diet.

The most integral portion of the wellness program is a balanced diet.  It is primarily through pure foods that we are able to acquire the nutrients required to maintain health.  Supplements should help to support, but should never replace the need for a balanced diet.

The balanced diet is an approximation of the ideal diet for most human beings.  This way of eating closely resembles diets consumed by the healthiest, most long lived peoples of the world (Hunza,Tibet,Western Russia, and the “old people” ofCentral South America).

The longer you are on the “diet” and the more closely you follow it, the easier it will become to maintain a balanced intake of nutrients.  This will result in your feeling and looking better than you did on your old way of eating.

As you become healthier, cravings for poor food choices will diminish.  Old habits are difficult to break, so take your time in changing your dietary habits so as not to slip back into your old way of eating.  It is important to note that even perfect diets may be deficient in nutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc.) related to our depleted soils and processing of foods.  Therefore, in addition to changes in diet, nutritional supplements may also be needed to support good health.

Drs. Zerdecki and Barrett will review the basic rules of the balanced diet with you at the appropriate consultation to help guide you.
