Pregnancy
More
and more women are beginning to understand the benefits of
chiropractic care during pregnancy.
By helping to align the pelvis and surrounding structures the
body is able to be in a state of balance.
This allows for the best possible environment for the baby to
develop in and allows mom to have the best pregnancy possible.
Prenatal chiropractors understand the uniqueness of a
pregnant woman’s body and by using gentle, specific adjustments are
able to help maintain a stress free and pain free nervous system.
As a woman’s pregnancy advances, postural changes occur in order to adapt to the expanding uterus. These postural changes put a great deal of stress on the joints of the spine and pelvis and often times cause pain. Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy can help to reduce pain, shorten labor, decrease the need for medical interventions and decrease the pain associated with labor.
Even if the baby is in the head down position
at birth, often uterine constraint can stop the baby from moving
into ideal presentation for delivery.
Any head position even slightly off during birth will slow
down labor, and add pain to both the mother and baby. Many women
have been told that their babies were too big, or labor "just slowed
down" when it was really the baby's presentation interfering with
the normal process and progression. Avoidable interventions are
implemented turning a natural process into an operative one.
